I was born in England and grew up on the foothills of Mount Kenya and later lived in North Africa, America and Bermuda. Artistically I have been educated in the UK, Germany and the States. In February 2005 I was lucky enough to come to live here in Bahrain.
My first exhibition was held in the States in 1989 and since then I have exhibited every year and sometimes more often in America, the UK and Bahrain.
Many things have influenced my work of course but the two biggest influences have been Patricia Tobacco Forrester in Washington DC with whom I studied and Shirley Trevena, the mixed media guru who works in England. Bahrain has helped my work to continue developing.
I like to paint natural subjects. Few things give me greater pleasure than when a client tells me how much joy a painting of mine has given them.
My work can be found in private collections in the US, the UK, Bermuda, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Bahrain. In January 2014 I was honoured by being selected for the 40th Fine Arts Exhibition here.
WORKSHOP DETAILS :
October 29th to November 26th , 2019
Every Tuersday
Time: 9am to 12pm
(1) Sessions 1, 2 and 3 (October 29, November 5 and 12) will consist of teaching various techniques. There are so many techniques that can be used in watercolour but what I would like to achieve in these 3 mornings is some basic techniques to allow participants to enjoy painting a finished work
(2) Each participant will move through the next 2 sessions at their own speed. What I would like to do is to work individually with each person to achieve a finished painting
(3) Between classes I would be very happy if participants could practice the techniques. These will become almost automatic if practiced enough. They can be added to as you continue to paint and each participant can then produce a personal work
(4) Watercolour is considered difficult but really it is just different from other media, more exciting and unpredictable, more expressive and far more personal.
List of supplies for watercolour workshops

(2) 2 brushes: Daler Rowney from Things to Do, sizes 10 and 4 round
